HuskyADAPT - Accessible Library Technology

There are many public libraries in Seattle with accessible technology, but they lack the capacity to teach the community how to use this technology. To address this issue HuskyADAPT partnered with Seattle Public Libraries (SPL) and King County Library System (KCLS) to design and implement a new system that would make it easier to use accessible technology for a wider audience.

Background

At the start of the project, we focused on identifying our target user group for the new technology. We established our team mission and brainstormed potential technology solutions. To gain deeper insight, we met with a partner who helped us connect with The Seattle Public Library and King County Library System. During the meeting, I was responsible for organizing notes, which we used to plan the next steps in the design process. With these new insights, our next steps included interviewing users, touring local libraries, and gathering information to design a technology system that benefitted the patrons visiting libraries in Seattle.

Mission Statement

Our goal is to design and implement accessible technology into library systems. We aim to do this by creating an inclusive, adaptable, and user-friendly solution that lets libraries accommodate all individuals.
